Has Your Home Business Turned a Profit?

I occasionally have a friend or colleague approach me to get my opinion on their latest idea of marketing on-line. My first question usually throws them for a loop. "Why does my opinion matter?" Or more importantly, what have you done to take action on the idea? You see,we humans instinctively look for approval before taking the steps necessary to measure results. Before we can fix a problem there has to be one. Your idea will not make you a dime until you set the plan in motion. It really does not matter how flawed the tactics are to begin with. You must go out and make mistakes so you can test, measure and refine the process.

My college business class was pretty amazing looking back at it. We were essentially taught to have a business model, develop products, seek investors, procure manufacturing and take the product to market. We'll I have some bad news. Unless you work for a fortune 500 company with millions allocated to research and development you will fail miserably with this method.

I say take the product or service to market first. Get the word out about what you're offering and let the marketplace tell you if you should pursue it. Test first and produce later. If you capture potential buyer's information such as name and email address you can promote affiliate products until your project is complete.

Internet marketing is much like horseshoes and hand grenades, just getting close can produce winning results. Don't let ego stand in your way of taking action today. While you may think you need to be perfect implementing you ideas other are going for failure. I personally adopt to go for failure model because it forces me to make mistakes and take action.

Start making your dream of operating a profitable home business a reality today. Decide on a niche that you're passionate about, find products to promote and get started promoting them. It is easier today than ever before to promote a product on-line with very little operating capital. I personally have students that have gone to market with an affiliate product and no personal web-site. Some of those students generated profits in less than a week. Get rid of the excuses and just do it. I would much rather be turning a profit than thinking about how to be perfect.

Locate some affiliate products to promote.

Start promoting and learn as you go.
