1. Understand your target audience. Do your research to understand the online behavior of your prospects and to identify the elements that can affect their buying decisions. Jot down the websites that they usually visit and the amount of time they spend online. Also, know what elements that you can use to push their emotional hot buttons. Knowing these information can help you easily connect with these people.

2. Advertising budget. You need to know early on if you want to spend money (and how much) for your advertising cost. If you are like most people who'd rather save some dollars especially right now when the economic is down, you may opt to use free marketing tools to get exposure online.
