World of Warcraft - Mounts at Level 20?

You read the title right. Blizzard is implementing mounts for level 20's now, along with a slew of other mount related changes. Here's what's on the slate for the World of Warcraft Patch 3.2:

  • Level 20 Mount | 60% Speed | 5 Gold
  • Level 40 Mount | 100% Speed | 60 Gold
  • Level 60 Mount | 150% Fly Speed & 60% Ground Speed | 650 Gold
  • Level 70 Mount | 280% Fly Speed & 100% Ground Speed | 5,100 Gold

Also, if you are a Druid, Shaman, or Hunter you now can train Travel Form, Ghostwolf, and Aspect of the Cheetah (respectively) at level 16. Paladins and Warlocks now train their regular mounts at level 20, and epic mounts at level 40. Druids now train regular flight form at level 60.

So what does this mean for the average WoW player? How is this going to change World of Warcraft for you and me?

First of all, it will change the face of twinking in the 29, 49, & 59 brackets. Level 29 twinks will now be mounted, while level 49 & 59 twinks will now have epic mounts. If you think about this, that means there's a whole new bracket of twinks that will be seeking mount based movement speed increase enhancements. The twink market can be very lucrative. Play your cards right and you can capitalize on these mount changes for the twink brackets.

These changes are also going to bring in some more rounds of "fresh meat" so to speak. New players are going to find it much easier to continue leveling (it's part of Blizzards diabolical plan to get more WoW subscribers).

Most of all these changes are going to drastically reduce the time it takes to level a character from start to finish. Speed / Power Levelers will have a hay day with these changes. It will be interesting to see what the new speed records will be for leveling a character from 1-80 with these mount changes. It will also be interesting to see what changes are made to the optimal level paths in current leveling guides. If you've ever wanted to level that dormant level 5 gnome sitting outside of Ironforge, now is the time to do it! Who knows, maybe you'll set a record :)
