You can get great deals when purchasing a used boat. You will want to know what type of boat you want. Do you want to live on the boat or use it for weekends, do you want to go sailing or do you want a power boat? Once you figure out which type of boat you will want to purchase then you can start looking for discounts and great deals on boats.
So where do you start to look for great deals? Well the dealers won't be on this list. Dealers are in the business to make money, they will add to the cost of the boat. While they are able to get quick financing for you if you need it, they will also be the most expensive way to purchase a boat. To get the best deal try to find a private seller.
Auctions will be a great way to find deals on boats, you can go to a local auction in your area or look for an online auction. You will be able to find many great deals on a boat this way, it may take you longer to find the perfect boat at the perfect price but if you are patient you will find the perfect price for your new boat. You may have to travel a little and bring your boat back to where you will be keeping it, but even with these costs added in you will be able to save a lot of money.
Look for online ads like Craigslist, there are new boats listed there everyday, sometimes several new listings an hour that will offer many different types of boats. You may have to search a nearby city to find just the right boat but eventually you will find one. There are also websites for boat trading where private sales are listed and you can sometimes find a great deal there.
Look along sides of roads when driving near lakes, and the ocean and see if you can find a boat in a yard or one with a for sale sign on. Even if they don't have a for sale sign on it you can always stop and ask if they are selling it. If you offer them cash they may be willing to sell it.
You can find great deals on boats if you spend some time looking around and know what you are looking for or be flexible with your dream boat.
