About ULIP

The expensive cover policy.

A few decades back, only money back and endowment policies used to be sold by LIC agents. The enterance of new private insurers marked the regime of new unique policies that suited individual needs. Now-a-days, except for LIC all other companies are busy selling ULIP's. Unit Linked Insurance plans as provide you with a cover along with the benefit of enhanced returns on the principal. Lets have a look at the features of this policy:

1. One can invest a fixed amount monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually.

2. Amount saved in a ULIP plan (net of charges) is invested at the applicable Net Asset Value (N.A.V) and denoted in units.

3. Every month a certain amount goes towards charges like the fund management charge or premium allocation charge and so on.

4. The cover provided is generally 5 to 10 times of annual premium.

5. The investor has to choose from a range of sub-options or plans provided by the company. For example a risk averse person can opt for a Protector type fund where 90 to 100 % of the investment is made in Gilts and Money market instruments which are risk free. Similarly an investor with a greater risk appetite can invest in Aggressive fund where 60 to 100% will be invested in equity and equity related instruments.

6. The term of the policy can be between 3 to 60 years with minimum and maximum age at entry and exit differing from policy to policy.

7. Different types of bonuses are declared during the term and on maturity of the policy that either increases the fund value or additional units are added to the policy.

8. You can opt for a single premium or regular premium ULIP plans.

9. In case of death of the investor during the term the company pays out the fund value + bonuses (if applicable) or the Sum Assured (cover) or both. This too differs from policy to policy.

10. Tax benefit u/s 80C for premiums paid upto Rs. 1 lakh p.a. Also surrender value or maturity benefit is exempt from taxes.

11. One can surrender the policy after three years of policy existence and can redeem the fund value as on that date.

Legal Malpractice Insurance - Quick Overview

With the customer's exposure and awareness towards legal malpractice, many legal professional have to face lawsuits frequently. If we look at the statistics, every four to five law professional out of hundred have to face a lawsuit in a year. For law firms, which typically employ more than 20 lawyers, are likely to face at least one lawsuit every year. Well, the figure is pretty impressive to make one realize that one must have a Legal Malpractice Insurance for good risk coverage in this profession. Let us have a quick look at the various aspects of it.

How does this insurance protect a legal practitioner?

When a legal practitioner defends himself against a lawsuit, he not only loses money but also valuable time. The average figure may vary from 250 to 300 hours per case that can be billed. This insurance protects a lawyer for each lawsuit he has to face.

Is it like other type of insurance?

The difference between a regular insurance and this insurance is that a regular insurance gives coverage in case a certain event like hospitalization or accident occurs while this insurance covers a lawyer only for a lawsuit against him within a policy period. So, that means this insurance company may overlook the case history except for policy duration.

What is the cost of buying a policy?

The cost of a policy is directly influenced by the degree of risk involved in your profession. For example, if you are into banking or real estate, the cost may be quite higher than a regular cost of a policy. But, in my view, you should focus more on the fact that how policy covers your areas of operations.

How do I get one policy?

There are many insurance players available in the market that offers such insurance. Ideally, there are two ways to approach these companies. First, you can find a broker; second, every company has its Managing General Agent (MGA). You can search for an MGA online as well.

It will be better to take an online reference on how lawyers are actually sued and how they can avoid trouble of a malpractice suit. You can refer to the Scum Lawyer Guide for more detailed information.

What is Burial Insurance?

As the saying goes, there are only two guarantees in life: Death and Taxes. Everyone dies eventually. However, you do not have to leave the large expense of your funeral arrangements to your relative's finances. Burial insurance is an easy way to make sure you have a plan in place to pay for your funeral wishes.

This insurance is very similar to life insurance. However, one of the largest differences between burial insurance and life insurance is the fact that burial carries no cash benefit. Life insurance is usually paid out via a check or bank transfer, however, all the proceeds from this type of policy go directly to the funeral home and related expenses. These policies are very low cost, and require no health exam in order to be eligible.

Costs of the policy will depend on the carrier, your general health, and age. Costs are much lower for healthy young people as their risk of dying is less than that of a smoking sixty year old man. Your current life insurance company may be able to supplement your policy with burial insurance, and it will add little additional cost on to your policy.

Also, depending on your insurance carrier and state, you can find burial insurance policies that will cover just you, or your entire family. This can be a life saver if you are in a situation where money is tight. The great thing about it is that it costs next to nothing, and can save your loved ones from having to bear the high cost of a funeral. A good idea is to go to your local funeral home and price out the cost of your funeral before you purchase a policy.

The estimate you get at the funeral home will give you a good base number on which you can make a good guess at what your policy should cover. One thing that you should keep in mind is that funerals do go up in price. Just like everything else, funerals will continue to rise with time and inflation, this means that you should purchase a policy with an extra cushion built in, for whatever may change.

Burial insurance is not a matter of if, but more of a matter of when. Everyone dies at some point, and the sooner you take care of the costs, the better. Burial insurance is a great way to ensure you will not have to burden your loved ones with the high cost of a funeral.

Liability Insurance For Beginners

Liability insurance is a type of insurance which will protect any individual or business from the fear of being sued against any malpractices or injuries caused. Any business man or self employed persons must have liability insurance. The importance of having it should be considered as early as starting to chalk out the business plan. Any kind of business right from clerical, manual or professional trade must have one for them.

The important benefits of a public/products liability policy are that you are insured for your legal liability for injury or damage caused to the property that occurred during the period of insurance. Under liability insurance, the interest of the policy holder is not with held. The damages caused unintentionally to the other party will be covered by this policy. It will protect the insurance holder from being responsible to pay the charges of damages.

Liability insurance is cheap when compared with other kinds of insurance policies. It is intended to pay the amount to the third party who is suffering from the loss and who is not a party to the insurance. The companies will try to act in favor of their clients in most cases. They do not cover up the fee for damages caused intentionally. The three main areas are public, product and employers liability insurance.

All the organizations are forced to have the public liability insurance. It will cover up the damages caused to any public, visitors, trespassers, and contractors etc who may be physically injured inside the business organization's premises on their presence. The insurance will cover up the fee if they are made unintentionally. The need for this kind of insurance should not be neglected. A simple example can be a trespasser may walk along the side of your house and a dead branch of a tree may fall on him causing injuries. The policy would cover the hospital bills for the injured person.

Product insurance is very much essential for the business people and company owners. Companies who tend to render their services or sell products in the market must compulsorily have this. Any unintentional damages caused to the clients or consumers can be covered up with this kind of policy. This policy is not mandatory for business owners but it is essential from their business perspective to have one.

Employer liability insurance is very important in case if any employee is injured during the working hours. Even companies with very few employees can opt for this and certain countries make it mandatory to have employer liability insurance. The company must have this provision for their employers even if they are not hired on a full time basis. The insured amount will be dependent on the combined wages of the employees.

Insurance plays a crucial role in our lives helping us financially. People can be free from their worries on expenses caused due to activities which are beyond their control. Liability insurance plays a big part in making people comfortable in doing their business happily.

Auto Insurance Deductible - What it is and Choosing the Right Amount

Deductibles are what the insured is responsible for paying in the event that a claim is filed. Not all policies require a deductible such as liability and the amount chosen can affect the prices of premiums. For example, comprehensive and collision policies have a predetermined amount that the insured pays if they file a claim. So if their vehicle sustains damages in the amount of $3,500 and the insured chose a deductible of $1,000, the insurer will give compensation in the amount of $2,500 and the policyholder is responsible for paying the rest for the repairs. One should compare auto insurance quotes with different amounts to help them determine which is the best amount for their particular situation.

Before deciding what to pay in case of having to file claims, one should first make the determination of what coverage they need. If one is intending on insuring an older vehicle it may not be wise to opt for "full coverage" and their state's requirements may be sufficient. This is because the amount of the premium and the deductible may amount to more than the value of the automobile.

Now on the other hand, if an individual is driving a luxury or higher end vehicle than they should definitely consider comprehensive and collision coverage. If a person is financing their automobile, the financial institute most likely will insist that they have this protection included on their plan. The cost of repairing cars can be very expensive and only being responsible for a small portion of the repairs in the unfortunate event of an accident can be quite beneficial.

Choosing the amount to pay at the time of a claim should be determined by each insured depending on their preference. The first item to consider is what can be affordable if they did have to pay for damages sustained by their vehicle. If one does not have the resources to pay $1,000 after an accident they may want to opt for a lower amount.

Also, when making a choice, one needs to understand that the higher the deductible than the lower the premium and vice versa. So a wise move to make before choosing would be to obtain quotes from various insurers with the different amounts that they offer to choose from. This can help determine whether the savings monthly are worth opting for higher deductibles.

An auto insurance deductible should be chosen wisely. Although choosing a higher amount may help find the cheapest car insurance it can cause a financial burden if it were needed to be paid. Also if one lacks the funds and needs to wait until the money is available it will delay the repair process causing them to drive a damaged vehicle or if the damage is substantial they may not be able operate the automobile at all.

Insurance Quotes - Does Shopping For Insurance Affect Your Credit Score?

Insurance quotes and insurance company underwriting have recently added a new factor for evaluating new customers. Now, insurers will check your credit scores. They have determined through statistical testing that people with good credit scores are better risks, and that undesirable credit scores are not good potential customers. Insurance companies and agents that see a person with a high credit score will consider you a low-risk client.

There are many consumers who worry that requesting new insurance quotes could have a negative affect on their credit scores. When agents or insurers pull up your credit report, it creates an "inquiry" on your credit history. Inquiries can sometimes lower your credit score by a few points.

So, does shopping for insurance quotes lower your credit score?

The answer is "NO."

There are two types of credit inquiries:

"Hard Pulls" - this refers to credit inquiries for acquiring credit as from a lender, credit card company or a merchant credit card.

"Soft Pulls" - this refers to inquiries made that review your credit score. This is the kind of "pull" that an agent or insurance company will do during the quote process. Soft pulls are not noted on your credit report except listing the name of the entity that made the request. But the Soft Pull does not lower your credit score.

So, you may be confident that shopping for insurance quotes will not lower your credit score. And it is very important to know that a good or high credit score can lower your insurance rates when you shop for insurance quotes.

Hot Tip: The trade group Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Association (IIABA) finds that 85% of new insurance buyers will use the Internet for rate quotes and research before making a purchase. Start shopping online for insurance and allow excellent local insurance agents to contact you with the most competitive quotes for your insurance needs.

You could save hundreds of dollars per year through the insurance quote process. Many times, the new agent you choose will handle cancellation of your old policies and take care of all the paperwork. Shopping on the Internet for insurance quotes is easy, simple and FREE!! It does not cost you one cent to get an insurance quote. In a matter of minutes after you submit your request, agents will begin contacting you to complete your quotes. You could get better coverage for less money...it happens all the time.

Don't waste time, and don't spend more for coverage than you have to!

The Art of Selling Final Expense Insurance

Final expense insurance has been around a long time and will continue to be sold for a long time in the future. Although the product itself is simplistic and easy to learn and get your arms around, there is definitely an art when it comes to selling final expense insurance.

Selling burial insurance is a process that requires and agent to build a need, want and desire for the product. Like any life insurance, everyone needs it but no one truly wants to buy and pay for it. As with other things in life we should have, if it was free, everyone would most definitely have it. Problem is... it's not free so we need to create that need they can't live without. So how do you do that?

First off, the client needs to see the value of having a policy and protecting the people they care about. Any life insurance I have I look at as an asset and not as a monthly expense each time I make a premium payment. It's important you talk in terms that the client is creating an instant asset for their family and not an expense.

The second thing that is very vital to helping your client is don't tell them they need final expense insurance but have them tell you. This is one of the biggest mistakes agents make selling absolutely everything. A successful agent does not tell a client they need the product, a successful agent has the client tell them why they need it and want it.

It is very important to ask probing questions to get the client to tell you. This is where most agents fail. Agents usually tend to do the telling in the selling process and by telling the client instead of having them tell you, in the end the client doesn't take ownership to the sale and the sale is lost.

"Mrs. Jones, do you see planning for your final expenses your responsibility, or do you see it as your children's responsibility?" The follow up question after Mrs. Jones answers it is her responsibility would be "Why? Why do you think it's your responsibility and why wouldn't you want to put this on your kids?" Sit back and listen to her tell you why she needs to buy your final expense product. These types of questions make the client take ownership and make the sale for you.

To be successful selling final expense, you need to create a need for your product since not many clients really want to purchase what you have. How you create that need is by asking questions that get your client to sell themselves and take ownership. Don't make the mistake that 99% of all agents do and that is tell your client why they need final expense insurance.

Steve Rohrer has has been in the insurance business training and building teams for more the 13 years. He is the leader in Final Expense TeleSales and works with a group that has perfected a platform for selling Final Expense over the phone. How to File a Complaint Against an Insurance Company

If you live in the great state of New York and have had problems with an insurance company, broker, or agent, then you are entitled to file a complaint against that person or company and have your voice heard through an official way. It is important to understand that you have rights in this country and that if you have been mistreated or misled in one way or another, then you are certainly entitled to tell someone about that in an official manner and have your problem resolved.

The best way to file a complaint is to do it online through an Online Consumer Complaint form. This form will entitle you to a file number and confirmation code which tells you that you are officially on the list to have your case heard by someone with authority. In that complaint form it is very important for you to describe the complaint and situation in the best manner possible. Any evidence that you have about your problem must be submitted in this form and will be used as a part of your case. If you have documentation that shows the problem, then you must submit it with your complaint forms. Things such as pictures, documents and faxes are certainly considered good pieces of evidence for people to use when filing a complaint. You can either turn your form in online or you can mail or fax it to the people in charge. You can find all of those phone numbers online. It is, however, suggested that you file your complaint online because the process will be much faster on your end. This also saves you the time of physically mailing the complaint and the money that it will cost you to mail that complaint. It is also noted that files that complaints that are filed online receive immediate attention from the department and will be dealt with much quicker than those sent in the mail.

Like mentioned before, the complaint must be very detailed and include all of the information necessary. You must not only include all of your information but also all of the information of the person or company who mistreated you. If you are having a hard time figuring out how to write a proper complaint, you should ask someone you know to help you. Do not wait to file a complaint if you have been mistreated. File the complaint and then get a new insurance company.

The Hard Facts About Accident Forgiveness Insurance

Insurance companies are changing...yes, changing! The slow to move industry is trying to reinvent itself with new options like Accident Forgiveness and Ticket Forgiveness. Allstate Insurance started the move and coined these names but other companies are quick to follow like Progressive, Hartford, GEICO, etc. but some companies have restrictions (not available in all states), qualifications and costs involved. Also, most companies only offer the Accident Forgiveness part - Allstate Insurance does offer both.

Car insurance in California has not offered new options like this since proposition 103 passed in 1988 deeming all insurance companies have to follow the same rules of the 'Good Driver Discount'. Before prop 103, California was considered an "open competition" state and the companies could offer all sorts of discounts and/or surcharges. The general rules of this state mandated discount are as follows...any one that is at fault for an accident that involves injury or gets more than one point on his or hers driving record can no longer qualify for the discount. The rule has not gone away so you may ask, "How do they get around this with accident forgiveness"? Good Question! Here's how the new options that insurance companies are offering work:

  • They waive their surcharge for a property damage accident only. This means if the accident involves any injuries than you will see an increase on your premium. Why? Because the company has no control over the 'Good Driver Discount' and this will be removed. Now, your increase will be a lot less than if you didn't have the Accident Forgiveness due to the insurance company is not surcharging you anymore.
  • If you get one minor ticket your rates will not go up with the Ticket Forgiveness part. Remember, this is for only one ticket for three years so if you get another one - go to traffic school to avoid the charge. And if traffic school is not an option this second ticket will now remove your 'Good Driver Discount'!
Every option has rules and restrictions so it's good to be aware of them. This is where having an educated agent helps the most!

When shopping for car insurance look at the companies options. Having accident forgiveness can save you thousands even with the above rules. Studies have shown that having one property damage accident can cost the average California consumer $1800 over a three year period and for one ticket $1200 (cost vary). If having accident forgiveness costs you an extra $5 a month and you drive over 10 miles one way to work, you might want to consider this.

Yes, this is buying insurance on your insurance rate. It might not be for everyone but for commuters, young drivers and commercial drivers that don't have traffic school as an option it really makes sense!

Online Insurance Leads - The Most Reliable Source of Generating Insurance Leads

The people and organizations that are involved in selling online leads are usually professional in the area that is known as search engine optimization. For those who may be wondering what this is, in the simplest terms possible, it is fine tuning your website to the demands of search engines so that when certain people use certain keywords that are related to your website, your website will be indexed as one of the top search results on the search engines. I really don't think there is any simpler explanation to that. This is all in the name of attracting search engine traffic to your website.

In the case of those organizations dealing with online insurance leads, they have over the years created websites and optimized them so that the sites can attract internet users who are looking for insurance. They do this by generating relevant content that deals with online insurance and by also creating a network where visitors will eventually reach their sites as the look for the online insurance.

At present, the major tool that is claimed to be one of the biggest and possibly the most reliable source of generating insurance leads is the internet. Many people are looking for life insurance quotes so that they can submit their details to see whether they are entitled to the insurance. Once they submit this information, it is usually stored as a lead. The insurance agent who gets this lead will contact the potential customer and offer more details about the specific insurance policy and other various policies that would be of interest.

Normally, people looking for insurance online submit their requests on various sites. This means that many insurance agents will receive the same insurance lead from one person. This will help the potential client make a decision as to which insurance policy is worth trying out. The potential customer will get competitive rates and will make a decision based on various rates from various insurance service providers. It is also a common practice to find that potential customers will inform various insurance agents that they have received better rates from another insurance company. In many cases, this might result in agents revising the quotes given to a lower rate.

There are various kinds of online insurance leads. These are life insurance leads, mortgage life insurance leads (this defers from the earlier one in cases where life insurance is required when purchasing a mortgage), health insurance leads, auto/car insurance leads and property insurance leads. Online insurance leads are the best way to get competitive rates when looking for whatever kind of insurance cover. By submitting you details to various insurance company websites, one will be able to get these competitive rates.

Final Expense TeleSales - The Need For Insurance Selling Systems

Success in selling Final Expense Insurance comes from having a complete Insurance Selling System in place. Many times Agents may have parts of the system in place but most of the time they fall far short which then is a spiral to failure. There are several key factors which drive that success and missing anyone will create certain failure, even for the most ambitious Insurance Agent.

You can't sell to air so without Final Expense Leads one has virtually no probability for success. Quality leads, without a doubt, are the life blood of a successful agent. final expense leads come in many different forms and price points. The industry average for "A" leads is anywhere from $25-$35 per lead and these leads can often be as old as 2 months depending on who you are receiving them from. The less sought after but should not be over looked "B" leads are far less expensive but are far more than 2 months old and have usually been contacted or "worked" before you lay your hands on them.

Most Agents usually have less than 10-20 "A" lead in there possession at any one time. Having access to such few leads stops an agent from being successful selling Final Expense. To be successful an agent needs to spend almost, if not more than, $1,000 per week on leads to have enough fresh leads to work. Unfortunately most agents aren't willing to spend that much on their business because of the risk of not making sales. So at this point the agent is setting themselves up for failure.

Insurance selling training or a mentorship program and on going training is crucial to an agent selling final expense insurance. Being able to shorten the learning curve and making each presentation count is important to the success of the agent. Without this the few leads an agent has gets wasted on inferior sales presentations and the inability to close sales. This one piece of the puzzle is lacking in the insurance industry. Agents aren't properly trained and are out of the business before they start.

An Agent needs to have access to a mentor and regular training to be able to hone skills and make each lead count. Very few organizations have quality ongoing training for their agents. Most agents are given a contract and fed to the wolves and left to defend for themselves. A sure sign there final expense business will be short lived. Good on going training is one thing the best insurance selling systems have in place.

Final Expense Telesales has a complete Insurance Selling System in place for those looking to sell final expense over the phone. Not only do agents have access to 1,000's of quality final expense leads, these leads are delivered to them real time as they arrive through a contact management system. Everything is paperless. All you need is a phone and an internet connection.

Claims Adjusters - How to Interview and Evaluate a Claims Adjuster

Claims adjusters are no different than any other group of people. Some are trainees, some have limited experience and training, and some have lots of experience and training.

But how will you know what kind of adjuster you will be assigned when you have an insurance claim? Adjusters don't show up and hand you a copy of their resume. Sometimes, you will be lucky to get their business card.

Usually, the qualifications of an adjuster are never mentioned. Yet, it is those very qualifications... or the lack thereof... that can make or break your claim.

People are way too trusting and compliant. They have a loss, call the insurance company and report the claim. But when the adjuster arrives to begin the adjusting process, it seldom seems to occur to policyholders that they have a right to question the qualifications of the adjuster. They just stand there like sheep waiting to be shorn. And then the shearing begins.

So today, I'm going to walk you through the process of determining the qualifications of any insurance adjuster. Once you've gathered this information, you'll be able to make a decision whether or not to accept this adjuster to handle your claim.

This process only works for first party claims, in which you are the policyholder. You cannot use this process when you are the claimant against someone else's insurance policy.

1. After you have submitted your Notice of Loss to the insurance company, they will assign an adjuster to handle your claim.
2. Know that there is nothing in your policy that requires you to accept any particular adjuster who is representing the insurance company.
3. The adjuster will contact you to make an appointment to meet with you. Make the appointment and keep it.
4. When the adjuster arrives, take control of the situation. Before the adjuster begins his inspection or investigation, ask him:
a. Is he a licensed adjuster in your state? Get his license number. Adjusters in my state are required by law to carry their license card with them.
b. Is he a temporary adjuster?
c. How many years has he been an adjuster?
d. How many years has he worked for this company?
e. What specialized claims training classes has he taken?
f. Has there ever been a complaint filed against him with the Department of Insurance of your state?
g. What is the name and telephone number of his supervisor?

Once you have obtained this information you can make the decision whether or not to accept this adjuster.

My recommendations:

1. Do not accept a temporary adjuster. Commonly known as "Storm Troopers," temporary adjusters have had very little training. Do you want an ill-trained adjuster handling your loss?
2. Do not accept an adjuster with less than two years of experience handling your particular type of loss. With less than two years experience, he's still a rookie.
3. Do not accept a non-licensed adjuster. However, if your state does not license adjusters, you have no choice.
4. Do not accept an adjuster than has not had specific training in your type of loss. For example, in disasters, sometimes the insurance company will have auto adjusters helping out with the high volume of property claims. But why should you accept an adjuster that is not a specialist in your type of claim?
5. Check with your state's Department of Insurance to verify if the adjuster has had complaints filed against him. If he has had a complaint, find out why. What's most important is the cause of the complaint, like violating a law, unethical acts or fraud.
6. If you get any unsatisfactory answers to your questions, and you want a more qualified adjuster, send your request by letter, US Post Office Certified Mail, to the adjuster's supervisor.
7. If the insurance company rejects your request, file a complaint with your state's Department of Insurance.

Adjusters are not accustomed to getting this type of challenge from policyholders. Don't be surprised if some adjusters resist your questions. Adjusters are taught to control you, the policyholder, in the claims process. If you are in control, they can feel very threatened. But their insecurity or lack of control should not deter you from getting these questions answered.

Remember that your job as claimant is to submit a very accurate claim that maximizes your recovery. Dealing with an unqualified adjuster would only serve to complicate your claim submission.

Now, I'd like to offer you two special reports at no cost. One is "5 Things To Do When Shopping For Car Insurance," and the other is "5 Things To Avoid When Shopping For Car Insurance." Each one is a $9.95 value, but free to you when you sign up for my newsletter at the website address below.

Payment Protection Insurance - Wider Implications

'Wider implications' is a technical term used by the Financial Ombudsman Service [FOS]. Wider implications issues include cases where the underlying issue is one that affects a large number of consumers or firms and in September of 2008 the Ombudsman raised PPI as a wider implications issue with the Financial Services Authority [FSA] to decide whether a regulatory solution imposed on the industry might be more fitting than decisions being made on individual cases by the Ombudsman. Just as there was a great brouhaha over the penalty charges that banks made to customers and deemed as unreasonable - making profit from penalties, PPIs might suffer the same fate if the industry doesn't self-regulate and behave in a more reasonable manner to those claimants who believe they have been mis-sold a product.

It's great having all this information after the fact but too often the public trusts salesmen and women to do their job honestly and be fair in their conduct and pieces of paper that might be essential to making a claim against a firm could have been consigned to the bin years ago. Merely the policy document remains in your file or drawer or wherever you keep it. Red tape, bureaucracy and providing evidence can make many claims against firms nearly impossible when you are no longer in possession of records that might be useful. Who would have foreseen that PPIs might become an issue of wider implications or that paperwork has to be kept in archive for several years? There simply isn't the space for all the bits of paper an average household would need if they have house insurance, buildings and contents insurance, car insurance, P60s, bank statements, credit card statements, benefits information and invoices or receipts for purchases made on their credit cards. Many companies want the original paperwork and most people don't have it. We're told not to store information about personal finances on our computers for fear of identity theft and even if you did, retrieving it does not provide the 'original' paperwork that companies ask for to back up a claim. Even though they may have a record of the transaction so often we are told 'it's company policy' that original documentation is provided to support any claim and that they have to, "adhere to policy, I'm afraid. Sorry!"

Unless individuals have lost huge sums of money or are of a Victor Meldrew mindset, they will probably give up pursuing their claim as it involves too much administration, annoying phone calls [that often can only be made during business hours - hard to do if you're at work too] that keep you on hold listening to muzaak or automated services that do not have an option to suit your query and no live operator to speak to. It's easier to drop the case than to be continuously frustrated in your efforts to solve the problem and it makes more sense to 'get a life' and forget about being screwed over. The FSA and the FOS are trying to lessen those frustrations and are worthwhile places to start if you do wish to make a claim against a mis-sold PPI.
